The Lady Bowen Trust grant recipients for 2016 were:
Chameleon Regional Community Housing -$6,000
The Way Forward Project – Giving practical assistance to clients with every day household items that help them in the move towards independent living.
Community Accommodation & Support Agency Inc
Moving in Expenses – To provide clients with funds for removalists, establishing utility fees, first week’s rent when they are moving from homelessness or unsuitable housing into affordable, permanent housing.
Lady Musgrave Trust -$15,000
Crisis accommodation shelters for homeless women and their children – Provision of furniture. The Lady Musgrave Trust is working to establish new units for crisis and transitional accommodation. This grant provides funding for new furniture for the units.
North West Youth Accommodation Service – $8,350
Welcome Packs To provide new tenants with household products – kitchen starter packs, homecare packs, pantry packs.
Queensland Public Interest Law Clearing House (QPILCH) – $2,000
Homeless Persons’ Legal Clinic – Street Soccer Event To provide people experiencing homelessness and related forms of vulnerability with an opportunity to engage in a socially inclusive and enjoyable community event.
The Haven Association – $15,000
Journey to Independence – To purchase essential household items and resources that will assist young people to transition into independent living and accommodation.
Uniting Care Community – Koolkuna, Kalparrin & Clare Homes – $10,000
Moving Forward – To provide financial assistance to support homeless families and women and children escaping domestic violence to move into safe, secure, long term sustainable housing.
Whitsunday Housing Company Ltd – $10,000
Startup package for people moving from rough sleeping in the Whitsunday region – To assist with clients’ critical costs including transport fees, removalists, food and rental assistance, furniture, whitegoods, bedding, blankets and even shoes.
Zig Zag Young Women’s Resource Centre Inc – $15,000
Transitioning to Independent Living Program – To provide essential financial assistance to young women and young parenting families who are disadvantaged and currently experiencing homelessness, as they transition from our temporary supported accommodation to long term secure and sustainable housing.
